It’s FOR Commission Manager!
Congratulations, Edgewood, we broke a record! Our town’s first-ever special election had a spectacular voter turnout with 1,505 ballots counted by the County Clerk. This record engagement far eclipses the 513 voter turnout seen in the last mayoral election in 2016. The final Special Election count was 1,043 FOR Commission-Manager government, 462 Against. Approximately 90 additional ballots were rejected by the County Clerk for technical non-compliance.
This first step toward an open and responsible town government was a resounding success! The outcome clearly shows that we want to see a change for the better. Edgewood residents want
- to be listened to and heard by our elected leaders
- for our town to be managed by an experienced professional
- for elected leaders to work together to tackle the residents’ priorities, protect our financial resources, and preserve what makes Edgewood unique.
Whichever way we each voted, we have a lot of common ground. The community has a strong desire to maintain our beautiful vistas and rural, outdoor lifestyle, to have ample conveniences without becoming a big city, and to keep our helpful, neighborly vibe while still respecting individual rights. It is important as we move forward to encourage all residents and elected officials to work together for a positive environment, to listen to everyone’s input, and to find truly community-inspired and community-focused solutions.
Our goal was always to provide residents with the information we had discovered and let the community decide together how to proceed. It’s fulfilling to see that’s exactly what has transpired.
Our community is better when we all seek to find our way together. There may be hiccups along the way, but if our hearts and our heads stay focused on what we all value about living here, we will maintain our unique quality of life for all of us and future generations as well.
Thank you to every voter who cared enough about this community to get involved and take part in this historic election. You impressed us with your participation and desire for the very best for our little town!
On behalf of all of us, thank you!
