WATCH: Special Election Update

Edgewood’s recent Special Election had an historic turnout and an overwhelming (70%) voter desire to change the town’s form of government to Commission-Manager to gain the voter powers of Recall, Referendum, and Initiative.

The mayor’s group, made up largely of his political appointees and family, is now trying to discourage voters by saying nothing will change. However, that is not true. Under the law,  the transition process is to begin immediately. The transition process will include plans for hiring an experienced, professional town manager and setting up equal sized, contiguous districts (although voting will continue at-large).

While the mayor is hoping to continue his costly, unpopular agenda unfettered, the people have clearly said, “No!”  Now, it’s up to ALL the Council members to listen to the voters and do the people’s work, not support the mayor’s self-interested agenda.
