VOTERS TURNOUT in RECORD NUMBERS – Edgewood voters came out in record numbers to elect their first-ever Town Commission under the new commission-manager form of government. More than 1,150 people voted in the largest regular election turn-out in Edgewood’s history. Seven candidates ran for five commission positions. Judge William White (857 votes) ran unopposed for town judge, a position he has held for about 20 years. Congratulations to all our first-ever Commissioners. All of the new commissioners have stated their goal is to get the town back on a positive and productive path with a foundation of open, honest, and responsible government.
The Results Commission candidates came from five newly-formed town districts. In District 1, Ken Brennan took the win over Ralph Hill in a very close race (561 to 549). The most watched race was in District 4 where Filandro “Phil” Anaya bested former mayor John Bassett by a landslide, 907 to 251. Unopposed were: Jerry Powers (District 2) with 911 votes, Audrey Jaramillo (District 3) with 907 votes, and Sterling Donner (District 5) with 890 votes.
